Sunny day, driving thoughts

So today I had to do quite a bit of driving for work.. We went to go see the quack (it's about an hours' drive from work)... While we drove, even though it was really windy (and friggin cold!) outside, the sun was shining... the perfect thing to make me a little drowsy. No fears, I didn't fall asleep at the wheel (too afraid to let that happen... sniff sniff... Remember poor Gus and what happened to him because of a sleep driver?) (no? oh, ask me about him sometime)
SO, I'm driving along.
And I pass the Northumberland Recycle Plant... (waste recovery facility?) And I got to thinking... do they use recycle bins in their lunch rooms? Or just carry it back to work?

whoa

so at our last Soulhouse Cafe, we were talking about the idea of "small world"... and six degrees to Kevin Bacon... and how everything we do influences the people around us, even when we don't know it.

Tonight at Karaoke the craziest thing happened.
One of the girls who helps to run the event (Jess) came up to me and sat down at the table, she leaned over and said "I know you guys go to church and stuff... could you pray for Bob's girlfriend's son?" (Bob runs Karaoke) She then went on to give all the details of what's going on. We talked for a bit, and I told her I'd share with the others so they could be praying too...
It's amazing what people perceive... wow. This has hit me hard tonight.

Please pray for Alex who's 14, he's just found out that he's got stage 4 cancer, and he's in sick kids now waiting to start radiation then chemo.

Break Fast Grumblings

The following was written a few days ago.. guess I hit "save as draft" rather than "publish"

I really really really like canned green beans.
Last night for dinner I ate an entire can.

Also last night I went to this Wycliffe prayer group in Peterborough.. it was an interesting mix of people there. When I lived in Ptbo, I was part of this group called "Next step" it was a prayer and discussion group for people who'd been involved with or were planning on being involved with missions... I loved it, I loved hearing the stories from others about their journeys, I loved being informed enough to know what to pray for, and to be able to pray for it with a passion... I loved praying with other passionate people. I think I've allowed myself to get so busy with "me" things, that I've lost a part of that passion. (I'm gonna work on that). Anyway, there were some people from the old "Next Step" and some people from a current group... like I said, and interesting mix.
The featured guest of the evening was one of my "fridge people", a guy that I've been in and out of touch with for a number of years, but most recently has been working in a closed country (a country that doesn't allow missionaries) (oh, and a fridge person is one who has their picture on my fridge- and is someone whom I pray for regularly). I was near tears several times over the course of the evening hearing about this young man's adventures and the trials that he and his friends face... I think that since we're so far removed from the persecuted church.. It's hard for us to begin to grasp it all. It doesn't effect us, so it's nonexistent.
It was fantastic to catch up with this guy...
If you think of it.. Pray for our friends who don't have the freedom to express their faith.. and pray for those who are working alongside them trying to encourage them

oh! the green beans! So I'm sitting, deep in concentration on the story... and the green beans begin to growl... My stomach is CHURNING... There is bubbling and groaning...
meanwhile, my friend is talking about the fasting that he and others were doing during a time in this closed country...
The guy sitting next to me (another I haven't seen in about 4 years) turns to me and says "as you can see, they survived.... You can quit your fasting now".
oh.. How embarrassing.

http://www.cbc.ca/canadavotes/analysiscommentary/blogreport.html#jan20

we'll have to wait and see if this will effect us for real...

geeeeee....

Sorry I haven't been posting, I was going (mostly) computer free this weekend in attempt to catch up on my reading and a few shows.
I should be back at it tomorrow.

News:: There will be a bit of an election party (not so much party as... us watching the election happenings) at number five-oh-three George St. Starting sometime after 4ish...
you're welcome to view with us. (oh, Sarah... I hope that's cool with you!) Email me if you need more details.

forgotten importance

I think I forgot to mention that Be-Bop quit his job.
Work will not be the same.

BAH!!!!! It's so sad!
On the other hand, I'm so happy for him in his new job... Roy, many blessings as you step into the unkown.

I like sheds.

Normally I wouldn't invite a Lady to a shed. But my shed is rather homey, I think.

to your right... a large gully

I took babykate out for a driving lesson on Sunday afternoon.

I could never really figure out why my Mom would clutch the door frame and the arm rest when she took me out for my driving lessons.... I discovered just how difficult it is to stay calm and collected with a new driver at the wheel this week.

For a VERY first time driver, she did really well, only stalling when she used the brake... Which um, wasn't often.
Note to self:: next lesson, find a bigger parkinglot that is NOT bordered by the worlds highest cliff leading to a gully.

Statistics- statistically speaking

I put a stats counter on my site last week... Just because I was curious.
And now I want to put random words and phrases like :

nutritional healing
motorcycle repair
panda
licorice
bar stool
pilates
British Car Club

on my site.. Just to see how many hits I get thru google and other search engines...

side note:: I'm not very good at being random. I had to look around the room and get ideas.

oh, the picture... That's Morris. Contrary to the MG sign in the background... the MG is sleeping for the winter somewhere safe away from snow and salt. I thought I should put a picture of something random to go with my random musings.

hey jealousy

Now, you'll have to contain yourselves, and if you're good, I just might show it to you...

I've got a talking StrongBad head clock on my computer.. and it's very useful.
It has an alarm and everything. Now don't go and be acting like some two years old child just because you don't have one. You can download your own.

warm fuzzys

Whilst wasting some time this morning - waiting for my laundry to dry- I discovered on the computer some pictures I'd forgotten about!
In the past week Joy Bible Camp has come up in conversation (however briefly) 3 times... It's put me into a sad sort of state... I'd like to be there.. Actually... I'd like to be at ANY camp right now... Actually... I'd like it to be summer.. I think that's really what's pulling at my heart... The echoes of summer joy.

tots

better believe it... that's a ketchup "o" with a tot-esque "j" and "y".

welcome to the rest of the world dear

ok, so I like to spend a little time each day reading everyone's blogs and whatever new comments have been added to their blogs...
(I'm sorry ahead of time on this one)

In T.Lam's blog there's a comment today that says something to the effect of "and what's up with blog being a verb?"

welcome to the bloggosphere.

take em' doooooon

So I was quite disappointed that I had a meeting tonight... I really wanted to catch the debate (believe it or not).
I marvel at debates... An excuse to fight it out with a (hopefully) worthy opponent... With rules and (some) civility. I couldn't do it!
Here's the thing... These candidates present in an orderly(ish) fashion, the things which their party is passionate about.. They want to make themselves look good, and their opponents foolish... They are (mostly) well versed in eachothers platforms, and by the end of the debate, you have a good idea where each stands.
Let's gaze at what would become of me on the platform....
" I just really feel strongly about this point" (long dramatic pause) ... bursts into tears with the passion of it all....
Yup... I feel strongly about something... And what happens? Tears... And gasping for breath... There's so much emotion behind it.... So much passion... And I end up crying.

Now.. My fascination lies in the channeling of the passion with the candidates... Tonight (though I missed most of it) was a prime example. Instead of freaking out on eachother... They get out (nearly) all their points, their rebuttals are heard, they don't show the offence that they might be feeling.. Even after being shot down... LOL.. waaaaaay down.Pretty impressive if you ask me.

However.
On my way home from the meeting tonight I was thinking about debate scoring "for the rest of us" (someone on the national tonight had a good point... They as newspeople rate the debate in a much different way than us at home, who don't dedicate our lives to the election and all else that happens on the hill)
I'm thinking that maybe we should turn debates into some sort of full contact sport.. To truly ensure that we've a fit leader on our hands.... You gotta take the guy out (lay them down) before you can give your rebuttal... I've got other ideas, but there's got to be a fair system of scorekeeping... I'll let you know when I've got it worked out.

sun so softly shining

.. outside the sun is kissing everyone and everything softly. It's beautiful.

Remember I mentioned that I had a small problem? well... really, here's why...

tighty

I mean.. a belly shirt for a bunny? who WOULDN'T buy that?
I have to admit I rolled him over on his back for this shot... then his ears balanced him enough that he was trapped.... LOL

many many

Many thanks boys for allowing us our girly day.
Much food was eaten, many movies watched, PJs were worn, trashy magazines were read and there was chocolate in abundance.
until next time... Slothfest double oh seven.

at the gate

Ladies, Slothfest will begin at 11 tomorrow. It will last for however long we need it to, but you are more than welcome to stay the night. It is a open house type event, don't feel you need to be there from start to finish, it's just about us all relaxing and being girly-girls together.

Men, you aren't invited. It's not that we don't like you, we just want some girl time. So don't bother to show ok? We're locking the door. We'll have another day of sloth with you if you're feeling that left out.
Grow up- don't crash it. :)

bring it on..

... the ribbing that is.

I'm sure by now, if you haven't at least seen it yourself... someone's told you of my handi-work at the resource centre this morning.

No one was harmed in the making of this post.
Although the posts may never be the same.
And the van may have slight damage to it... but only when you get really close.

Intervention

There's this crazy show that follows the life of people who need some serious help.. it follows the family thru a crisis intervention and... well really... I can't watch it. I get too upset.
It works documentary style, and gives the life of say... um.. a woman with a crack addiction.. you get to know her and you learn how her life has gone to uh.. pot? (sorry) Then it introduces you to the family members and they share how their lives have been affected... Then I end up in tears and it's just a messy thing.

Dear friends... I need you to perform an intervention in my life.

I have a problem
it rules me
it eats my money
it consumes my time
it drives others batty...

I like
(entirely too much)
to buy little outfits for my rabbit.

I need a hobby.
Some might say I need children or a husband.. (preferably both)

shorts

- I may have signed many of you up for a free week at the gym...

-everyone should reread Narnia... and then see it (the movie) again too.
{side note:: I think that the professor should have had a guinea pig in his office... or in his pocket.}

-Dress fitting on Saturday for Tanya's wedding.. Which consequently is the day AFTER slothfest 2006... Not good timing.

-Slothfest 2006 is this Friday ladies, I hope to see you there... Required :: comfy clothes, bathing suits, junk food. This year it's being held at Dad's~ if you need directions call me, or email me and I'll let you know how to get there.

-Dad's going away for awhile, So I'll be back and forth from Cobourg to P.Diddy (Port Hope). You can look up the phone number... he's the only Boileau in that town.

-I'm not the only Boileau listed for Cobourg! Crazy.
