the great eternal mystery.

have any clue what that is?
That's me.. after I've finished my laundry. I own a number of pairs of socks and underwear. It all stems from living in an apartment that didn't have laundry facilities ... and having a lifestyle that didn't fit sitting around in a laundromat for hours on end... at least, not often!
So... I can go a few weeks without doing laundry.
This picture shows what happens when you put off doing laundry- and allow yourself to wear mismatching socks when you don't take the time to wash everything at the same time....
yeah... 14 socks with no mates.
not cool.

to answer a question

Manda asked :: "did you win the SF?"

yes, in fact I DID win the SF.

though, I wonder if you get to call it sword fight if you're using a stick?

Tonight I was climbing into bed and remembered my laundry was still downstairs. (obviously I'm not in my bed now if I'm writing) I'm down to one pair of unholey jeans that are comfortable (I'm going to be doing a lot of crouching tomorrow), so I sent a txt message downstairs to roomie. See, I figure a txt message is a little less intrusive then me hollering down the stairs at her... and since I have to walk thru her room to get to the laundry... I figured I'd better see if she was still awake.

She txted back "no prob" and I wandered (in the dark) thru the living room, into the kitchen and headed down the stairs.

Once in the laundry room though... I couldn't find my clothes.

I stood in the middle of the room looking around, then walked out, confused look on my face.

"Your laundry is already upstairs" Roomie said.
Blank look.
"I didn't think I'd brought it up yet" (absolute terror setting in at this point... I'm losing my mind!)
"I brought it up for you, it's beside your bedroom door, I just figured you meant your jeans were somewhere else."

sure enough, when I went upstairs, I nearly tripped on the basket... don't know how I missed it before.

1) I have a thoughtful roommate
2) we should get an intercom
3) I need infrared glasses

relief

I've been in a mild state of panic since Monday... not that you'd notice in amongst the other quirky bits that make me...uh... me.
But last night it reached the point that I had to do something about it.
My camera was missing.
I know I had it on Sunday night (as I processed "monday bunday"... and modified the time stamp to make it look like I actually had gotten up at some ungodly time in the morning, early enough to be fully dressed and ready to go to work- and still have time to blog) (HA!). But after that... it's whereabouts were a mystery!
I knew I'd tried to fit a book into my pretty little leather purse without too much success, the flashlight had taken up too much room... the flashlight was now sitting on the floor in my room, and the book eventually came with me to work. Did I take the camera out then?
Did I toss it into my purse as it sat by my desk at work? Had I been showing someone pictures and forgotten to put it away?
All the places that I've (previously) found it were coming up empty.
I even started making phone calls!
Until last night.
When I crawled into my bed... and found it nestled beside a pair of socks under the covers.

time to clean my room.

not to be said out-loud without context.

So I was returning the roomie's Anti-Static, Eco-friendly, reusable dryer contraptions (these cool little plastic balls that are all bumpy that fluff up your laundry if you throw them in the dryer with your clothes- cutting your dryer time by a few minutes, and reducing the need for more chemicals and waste of dryer sheets....) My intent was to leave them on the large wooden chest that sits in her room.
Without thinking I hollered down the hallway::

"Sarah, I'm leaving your balls on your chest!"
