Ok, so out for my evening constitutional, and eventual run with BabyKate....
we run into a friend of hers, and someone I haven't seen in about... oh... 12 years.
friend of baby has been drinking quite heavily- and turns to baby and asks "is that your mom?"
I go home and pull grey hairs out for the rest of the evening.

It is not uncommon for shadier people to have kids when they are in their earlier teens..
So if she is 18 and they assume that you had in around 16...32 isn't so bad.
In conclusion...you're not old, they are just drunk.

um...were you really pulling out grey hairs - if so you can join my club. I noticed that at 32 - I'm going white around the ears. I just tell myself that it's the new 'platinum blonde!'. Btw...it must have been a timing thingy - b/c my link was really not there ...seriously. (Great - aparently I've got early onset of Altz. too. lol!)
