time to stop

I've been watching errr... bingeing on netflix again.
My boss decided I needed some time off, after the ice storm and Christmas I was heading into my 10th day of working straight and the stress levels weren't going down by much... So, day one of my two day vacation consisted of nearly an entire season of Dawson's Creek.

So much teen angst.

I'm talking in circles in my own head now. Using the biggest words and worst clichés to narrate my life.

It's time to stop.

Time instead to gather up materials for the 6th annual collage party.

Dear 2014, what will you be?

yup

The friendlies threw a party tonight... a housewarming/end of the world/Sagittarius birthday/Rob Ford's out of office type party... which was awesome.

I'm on my 5th bout of hiccups at the time of writing this - that's the sort of state of mind I've been at all day, so I didn't last very long... I wanted to, but I was toasted and peopled out even before getting there.

Anyway, one awesome moment of the night went like this...

Me: Hey, do you do karaoke?

Friendly: I don't.. well, I haven't.. I'm not against it, people have offered, I just haven't. I don't know if I'd like it...

Me: Oh, so like me with Pot?

Friendly: yeah... like that!

Some days are these days.

But mostly I choose this when those days happen.

A drab

Is there a measurement unit that's comparable to a Drib or a Drab? I've always wondered.
Awhile back I saw an advertisment for a set of measuring spoons- a pinch, a titch, a smidgen... etc... I'd love to find them again.

I was thinking about what matters today.

and about what doesn't.

And I need to make some changes. Big ones. Why hold on to the things that drag you along? Why spend time with the things that just hold you back? Why dwell on the holdings of sadness and pain?

I choose to do something new.
I choose to find joy.

that wasn't the drab I was going for.

under the trees, I felt my heart happy

I went camping.
And now I wish that I didn't have to be home.
In fact.... all I want is to be back out there... not that I'm the best camper... it was noted that I've become increasingly skittish around campsite critters... I was willing to jump up on the picnic table when Mr.Coon made his arrival- and the single appearance of a june bug had me jittering for quite awhile (hoodie fully drawn!). But, it was more the whole group of people I was with.
I went with some friends from university- people that I've stayed in touch with over the years, and who were very important to me while I was at school.

I was hit by something big (well, not as big as the BMW that hit Frase- but that's another story) this weekend.
I haven't been able to shake the feeling of it

I'd forgotten how good it felt to be with friends that had a similar world view- friends from a similar set of experiences- friends with similar tastes- friends with similar interests... Friends that I could relate to on several levels, and who could challenge/stimulate me ...
I need to make it clear... I LOVE my friends/peers that I have here at home... but there's something to be said about the relationships that are built in the nurturing environment found in similarities... vs. the friendships that grow out of proximity.

I read this.. and it sounds horrible. Like I'm unhappy with the friends I'm with here in the 'Burg... not the case..
I just remembered this weekend what it means to be in relationship.

I don't really want to settle for less.

spring sprung

I pulled out my flip flops yesterday.
For their first official wear of the season.

I'm a little worried for them, I don't think they have much time left.

There is NOTHING like a WARP flip flop. I've just spent a ton of time trying to google the company, but it's coming up with nothing related. It's just a simple flip flop. Fits long, with the between toe straps coming nearly to your ankle. So far back, that the nubs (where the strap attaches to the shoe) are back under your foot.
I can feel the lack of callous today.
It hurts.
But it's worth it.
I think I have about two weeks hard ware left on them.... they are worn nearly thru on the bottom. I'll be sad to say good bye to them.

Also, pointing to spring... and nodding toward summer.... I shaved my legs.

laments

Skull a day is coming to a close.

I dwell on things that don't really matter for far too long.

I regret words.

I regret unsaid words.

I should have had pizza for dinner.

Maybe I should be getting more sleep.

I never bothered to unpack.

I drank two cups of coffee and an extra large tea after 7pm.

I heard it on the radio.. on the wrong blog

I just wrote this lovely little piece on how I've been missing my CBC.

~And how the Christmassy tunes channels on the radio have been lacking in the Bing and Bowie content.

~About how I'd cancelled our Internet (effective 28 days from now)

~And how by doing that... it was the most hard hitting of the move preparations.

~About how my contract (for night sleeps) has the opportunity to be extended.. to September.

~And about various other thoughts...

and then I went to hit post and realized I'd been writing it under the wrong blog....

meh.

It's official.

Well folks, it's official.
Time to celebrate.
I gave my two weeks notice today.

Due to the nature of my current job, err... rather, due to the people that I currently support- and their ability/inability to process things the way we process things, please don't talk about this news at work until I've had the opportunity to sit down with them TOGETHER and give them all the information.
Seriously... even if you're at a different program...
thanks.

but now...

yahoooooooooooooooo

in droves

funny, can't find something for forever, then they come flying at you in droves!

So, I got an email this week from the original person I'd contacted about the Flemish giants... not the German Shepherd ones. It said, "contacting the people on my waiting list, I have one doe, and one buck, light grey in colour, 7 weeks old, let me know right away" that was two days ago. SOOOO, of course, I hmmm and hawwwed for about 12 hours, then replied... "YES please" and gave both my phone numbers.
Turns out my answering machine, though it's plugged in, isn't recording messages (going to go buy a battery today to fix that issue... hopefully).
I haven't heard anything, haven't received an email... 7 weeks for a Flemy means it's going to be the same size if not bigger... than Fynn Fynn.

The phone rang just a few minutes ago... the German shepherd lady has 3 brown babies, cheaper price, and 5 weeks old.

I asked that I be given till tomorrow to decide...

eek.
